A storm is quietly building inside the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), and this time it feels personal. Embakasi East MP Babu Owino did not mince his words after the controversial ouster of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna delivering a blunt message that has left party members talking in hushed tones.
Standing before his supporters Babu spoke with visible frustration. To him Sifuna’s removal was not just routine party politics it was a betrayal. “If you are on our side, you are on our side.
If you are on the other side, fight on the other side” he warned drawing a clear line in the sand. His tone suggested disappointment as much as defiance signaling that trust within the party may have been shaken.
For many grassroots supporters, the issue goes beyond positions and titles. Sifuna has been a familiar voice in ODM’s public battles, and his sudden exit has left questions hanging. Was it strategy? discipline? or deeper internal differences that have now spilled into the open?
Within ODM circles some leaders are urging calm, aware that public confrontations could damage the party’s image.
Others quietly admit that internal disagreements have been brewing for some time and Babu’s outburst simply brought them to light.
With the country already shifting focus toward future political alignments, the situation puts ODM in a delicate position. Party unity has long been its strength.
Now members and supporters alike are watching closely wondering whether this moment will strengthen internal resolve or deepen the cracks.
