Inspector general for police Douglas Kanja has provided a response to the sentiments made by the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua and the united opposition team following the Sunday incident at Othaya Church on 25 January 2026.
The national police service provided an update on their official X page asserting that the Inspector General for Police Douglas Kanja has met the United opposition leadership in his Office.
In the statement, the tweet stated the IG was fronted by his two deputies Mr Eliud Lagat and Mr. Gilbert Masengeli and Mr. John Onyango on behalf of the Director for Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and the senior leadership at the headquarters of the National police service.
The NPS confirmed that IG Kanja received the petion from the leadership of United opposition and promised to look into it keenly further emphasising that the need for political neutrality and NPS's service without fear or favour will be key.
