"God Save Kenya" — Gachagua’s Blunt Message After Ruto’s Bomet Tour
In a statement shared on his official X account, Gachagua claimed that Ruto’s visit was intended to address growing dissatisfaction among residents who, according to him, felt the President had failed to deliver on promises made during the 2022 election campaigns.
Gachagua argued that the President had no new national government project to launch, commission or inspect during the tour.
Instead, he claimed, Ruto visited projects belonging to the Bomet County Government, including the County Assembly and the Mother and Child Hospital.
Gachagua also addressed the emotional moment during the visit when Ruto comforted a young girl who became emotional while delivering a poem about the challenges facing her family.
The former Deputy President questioned why Ruto appeared emotional over the girl’s situation, arguing that the government’s policies had contributed to the hardships affecting ordinary Kenyans.
“But who has deliberately caused these troubles and pain? Who has caused the tears on the young girl? Isn't it Mr. William Ruto?” Gachagua posed.
He further criticised what he described as Ruto’s “pretentious” tears, arguing that such displays would no longer influence Kenyans when deciding whom to support politically.
Gachagua also claimed that economic charters signed between the national government and counties, including Bomet and Kericho, had not been implemented and were allegedly gathering dust at the UDA headquarters.
At the same time, he alleged that large amounts of money had been used to mobilise crowds for Ruto’s meetings, claiming residents were ultimately shortchanged.
Gachagua concluded his statement with a blunt message directed at the President: “Fix the Country Mr. William Ruto!”
He ended with the words, “God Save Kenya,” as he continued his criticism of the President’s visit and record in Bomet.
