Shock Results Rock Day 11 as Munyua Prepares for Doets Showdown

Surprise results continued to light up the 2025/26 PDC World Darts Championship as the second round got underway on Day 11 of the tournament at Alexandra Palace in London.

Several top-seeded players suffered early exits on Sunday, December 22, setting the stage for more drama as Kenyan darts star David Munyua prepares for his highly anticipated second-round clash against Dutchman Kevin Doets later on Monday.

Munyua has already made history in his debut appearance at the championship, becoming the first Kenyan to win a match on the world darts stage.

A part-time darts player and full-time veterinarian, Munyua has captured the imagination of fans with his calm composure and fearless play.

He will now look to extend his remarkable run when he faces Doets in the second round, with victory potentially opening the door to an even deeper run in the tournament.

The second round has been marked by a string of unexpected results, with several favourites knocked out early.

Former world champion Gerwyn Price was among the biggest casualties after suffering a shocking 3-0 defeat to world No. 92 Wesley Plaisier.

The upset came just days after Price had publicly declared his confidence in winning the title.

The result sent shockwaves through the tournament and reinforced the unpredictable nature of this year’s championship.

Defending champion Luke Littler of England safely booked his place in the next round with a straight-sets victory, though he faced stiff resistance from David Davies.

Australia’s Damon Heta also advanced after a hard-fought win against Stefan Bellmont.

However, Joe Cullen’s campaign came to an end following a 3-1 loss to Mensur Suljovic, who produced a composed display to secure passage to the next stage.

Kevin Doets, who secured his own second-round spot with a win over Dennant, admitted that facing Munyua was not the matchup he had initially expected.

He described the contest as a “dream draw” but acknowledged that Munyua’s victory in the opening round added pressure.

“I watched David’s match live,” Doets said.

“I was expecting to play Mike in the second round. When David won, it put a bit more pressure on me, but I’m looking forward to it.”
