According to local deputies, officers were asked to conduct a welfare check at a home along 1st Avenue after the family could not be reached. When the deputies arrived, they knocked several times with no response.
Two workers who had access to the house eventually let them inside. Once inside, officers discovered the bodies of 40-year-old Charity Beallis and her twin children. Evidence at the scene showed that all three had been shot.
The twins were believed to be around six years old.
Investigators say the deaths came shortly after Beallis attended the last court session in her divorce case with her estranged husband, Dr. Randall Beallis, aged 56.

Investigators say the deaths came shortly after Beallis attended the last court session in her divorce case with her estranged husband, Dr. Randall Beallis, aged 56.
Court documents show that Charity filed for divorce on March 5, 2025, and had been seeking full custody of the children. She had also asked the court for a protective order, telling officials she feared for her safety.
Records reveal that Randall had previously been arrested on domestic violence charges. Earlier in the year, he was accused of choking Charity during an argument, and he later pleaded guilty to third-degree battery.

The court gave him a suspended sentence and a fine, and he was instructed to avoid all contact with his wife unless allowed by a judge.
Friends and relatives say Charity had repeatedly expressed concern for her life. She reportedly felt the system was not listening to her, even after she tried reaching out to officials handling her case.

Her older son, John Powell, told investigators that his mother had spent nearly nine months trying to protect herself and the twins.
“She fought so hard, but nobody helped her,” he said. “Now they’re all gone.”
The sheriff’s office has executed several search warrants related to the case and says more actions are expected as the investigation continues.
