The crash was so severe that Jirongo’s vehicle was pushed about 25 metres from the impact point, while the bus stopped roughly 50 metres away.

He did not refuel and briefly stopped at the station exit at 2:19:10 a.m. Moments later, at 2:19:19 a.m., he turned right, heading back toward Nairobi. By 2:19:25 a.m., the PSV bus collided with his car.
“The footage captures the sequence of events clearly, showing how quickly the accident occurred after Jirongo left the petrol station,” a DCI statement noted.
The Climax bus driver, Tyrus Kamau Githinji, has been questioned by detectives. He previously gave a statement at the Naivasha Traffic Base and was later released on cash bail.

Forensic experts from the National Forensic Laboratory have joined homicide detectives in examining the crash scene. Teams plan to revisit the site to gather further evidence and are reviewing additional CCTV footage.
Detectives are also speaking with people who last interacted with Jirongo hours before the accident, including friends at Karen Oasis Bar in Nairobi. Passengers from the Climax bus are expected to provide statements as well.
Once investigations are complete, the DCI will compile a report and submit it to the Director of Public Prosecutions for further action.
