Arsenal widened their lead in the Premier League on Sunday night after a dominant 4–1 victory over rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Emirates Stadium, with Eberechi Eze stealing the show with a stunning hat-trick.
The Gunners controlled the match from early on, leaving Tottenham struggling to keep up despite manager Thomas Frank’s attempt to tighten his defence with a back-five setup. The plan did little to slow Arsenal’s momentum as the hosts repeatedly sliced through Spurs’ lines.
Arsenal broke the deadlock in the 36th minute. Leandro Trossard finished calmly after being played through by Mikel Merino, setting the tone for what would become a one-sided derby.
Just before halftime, Eze doubled Arsenal’s advantage with a moment of brilliance. The attacker glided past two Spurs players at the edge of the box before drilling his shot past goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
The goal carried extra emotion for Arsenal fans, given that Eze was close to joining Spurs in the last transfer window before Arsenal made a late move to sign him.
At the break, Tottenham abandoned their initial defensive setup and brought in Xavi Simons in search of more attacking rhythm. But the change backfired almost immediately.
Only 23 seconds into the second half, Eze struck again—curling a left-footed shot from the edge of the area into the bottom corner to make it 3–0 and push Arsenal firmly out of reach.
Tottenham spent most of the match pinned in their own half, but substitute Richarlison gave them a brief moment of joy when he scored from long range, lifting the ball over goalkeeper David Raya from around 40 yards.
Any hopes of a comeback ended in the 76th minute when Eze completed his first senior hat-trick with another crisp finish past Vicario, restoring Arsenal’s three-goal cushion and sealing the derby in style.
The result gives Arsenal their biggest points lead at this stage of a Premier League season and strengthens their push to end a title drought that stretches back to 2004.

The Gunners have finished second in each of the last three campaigns, but this season appears different—stronger, more confident, and more ruthless.
